What is the difference between an Unrestricted and Restricted Secondary account and how do I know which type my account is?

A Restricted Secondary account is an account that is controlled by the primary user.  The primary user is the only person that can make important changes such as changing user names or passwords, disabling spam filters, or restricting incoming email.  A Restricted Secondary account may be useful for younger users for whom you would like to limit their feature access.

An Unrestricted Secondary account is an account that is controlled by the secondary and the primary users.  An Unrestricted account allows the user full access to all of the available features.  An Unrestricted Secondary account may be useful for giving other adults in the household their own fully-functioning account.

To determine if a user is Unrestricted or Restricted:

  • Go to the Customer Central homepage
  • Click the Users & Settings tab
  • Under the Manage My User Accounts section, look at the Type details, which displays the type of account
