Auto Authentication FAQs

How does auto authentication work?
If you subscribe to both XFINITY Internet and XFINITY TV, we’ve made it even easier to watch video content while in your home. By matching the IP address from which you are accessing XFINITY TV Go with the IP address assigned to your modem, you will be able to view the full content included in your XFINITY TV package without the need to sign in with your Comcast ID and password.

I’m accessing XFINITY TV Go from my home. Why am I being asked to sign in?
If you are attempting to watch video content and are being asked to sign in, it’s possible that we have incorrect data on your home IP address. Please wait 24 hours and try again. If it still isn’t working, please call us at 1-800-XFINITY and we will update our records.

Can I schedule recordings or add items to my Watchlist without signing in?
You can schedule recordings and add new items to your Watchlist without signing in, but you will need to sign in to use your DVR Manager and to view your Watchlist.

What other features will I need to sign in to use or view?
To protect your privacy, you must sign in to view your Watchlist, History, Recommendations and Favorite Channels, as well as to make changes to your Parental Controls and ZIP Code listings. If you forgot your password or username, you can retrieve it by visiting Username recovery.

I’m concerned about the content my children may have access to. What can I do?
We offer full Parental Controls for XFINITY TV Go and our mobile applications. Note: These are separate from what you may have set on your TV. Once Parental Controls are set, they too will be enabled without the need to sign in; however, you will need to sign in to change or disable them. Learn more about Parental Controls by visiting XFINITY Parental Controls.

Can I use this service for HBO and other TV Everywhere websites?
At this time, HBO and other TV Everywhere websites do not support auto authentication. We are continually working with our partners to enhance your subscription and hope to have this feature available in the future.

How can I opt out of using auto authentication?
If you would like to opt out of using auto authentication, simply log in to https://login.comcast.net/myaccount/userprofile and select Turn Off under Auto Authentication.
