Support XFINITY TV Enabling Video Description on Motorola or Cisco Set-Top Boxes or a DTA

Introduction

This article provides instructions on how to enable video description by turning on Second Audio Programming (SAP), using a Motorola or Cisco set-top box or a DTA.

Enable Video Description on a Motorola or Cisco Set-Top Box

  1. Press the Menu button twice on the XFINITY Universal Remote Control. The Menu button is the red oval button located to the right of the center of the remote. Find the right-facing arrow button and move your thumb to the right and then down.
The Main Menu option can be accessed via the Quick Menu on legacy XFINITY TV guides on Motorola and Cisco set-top boxes. It is the first icon on the left in the Quick Menu.

  2. Use the arrow buttons to navigate to Setup in the menu and press OK/Select on the remote.
Once in the Main Menu, navigate to the Setup option. This is the last option in the first column.

  3. Use the arrow buttons to navigate to Audio Setup and press OK/Select.
After selecting Setup, continue to navigate to Audio Setup. This is the third option in the first column.

  4. The Default Audio Track option, Channel Default, is always the channel’s main audio track (unless you changed it previously).
In Audio Setup, select Default Audio track, which defaults to Channel default.

  5. Press the right-arrow button to change the audio track. Changing this selection will instantly change the audio, and selecting Espanol or Spanish will activate video description.
Change the Default Audio Track option to Espanol or Spanish.
    • Note: The audio options can only be heard if the program provider or cable channel is providing that additional audio option.
  6. Press the Exit button on the remote (above the Volume button) to resume program viewing.

Enable Video Description on a DTA

To turn SAP on or off with your DTA, simply press the LANG button on your DTA remote. The LANG button is a round button situated in the center of the remote just below the MUTE button.
XFINITY's DTA remote control; the LANG button is at the bottom of the remote, in the center column, below the Mute button.
