What is Power Save?
Power Save is a feature that saves you money by reducing the amount of energy your set-top box uses. You'll know when your X1 set-top box is in Power Save mode because the green power light on the front panel of the device will be off. (When the green light is on, the device is in On mode.)

How do I turn on Power Save?
To put your device in Power Save mode:

  • Press the Power button on the front of your X1 set-top box.
  • You can also get your set-top box to automatically go into Power Save mode after a few hours by setting a timer in Settings > Device Settings > Power Save.
  • Once your set-top box is in Power Save mode, turn it back on by either pressing the Power button on the front panel of your X1 set-top box or by pressing All Power on the remote control.

How much energy can be saved with Power Save?
Your energy saving depends on the specific X1 set-top box type (DVR or non-DVR), how much time the device is in Power Save mode and what power-saving activities are going on behind the scenes (such as scheduled recordings). Because of these variables, we can't say exactly how much energy your set-top box saves in Power Save mode, but to maximize your energy savings, you should always put your set-top box in Power Save mode as soon as you are done watching TV.

Will my recordings still happen if my X1 set-top box is in Power Save mode?
Absolutely! Power Save is designed so it won’t affect the critical background services provided by your set-top box, like recording your favorite TV programs - or playing on other devices via AnyRoom DVR.

Should I turn my X1 set-top box off when I am done watching TV?
Yes! Your power saving depends to a large degree on how much time the device is in Power Save mode. To maximize your savings, always put your set-top box in Power Save mode. Alternatively, you can get your set-top box to automatically go into Power Save mode after a few hours. Please see the instructions listed in the How do I turn on Power Save section above.

Why can’t I turn off my X1 set-top box with my remote control?
This feature was disabled to address problems customers had keeping their TV and set-top box power synchronized. Because the remote communicates with the TV and set-top box using different signaling technologies, one device would sometimes get turned off while the other was turned on. We realize disabling the Off button on the remote control isn’t ideal and we are looking into options to address this issue. Meanwhile, you can turn the set-top box off with the Power button in its front panel. You can also configure the set-top box to go into Power Save automatically, or simply leave the set-top box on while turning off the TV.
