Support XFINITY Home XFINITY Home - Secure: Help with Your Lighting/Appliance Controller or Outlet Controller

Introduction

Please read below for installation instructions and troubleshooting steps for the Lighting/Appliance Controller or Outlet Controller for your XFINITY Home - Secure product.

If you do not have our XFINITY Home - Secure product or a TouchScreen, please see Home Control for help with your XFINITY Home - Control service.

Lighting or Appliance Controller - Installation Instructions

  1. Remove your Lighting or Appliance Controller from the kit and place it in the room where your light or appliance is located.

  2. Connect the light or appliance's power cord to the bottom of the Lighting or Appliance Controller.
    • Note: The outlet on the front of the Controller is not compatible with the XFINITY Home system but will function as a traditional outlet.
  3. Insert the Lighting or Appliance Controller into a nearby wall outlet. In minutes, the green light will blink 3 times every few seconds.

Outlet Controller - Installation Instructions

  1. Insert your device into a working electrical socket and ensure the associated light switch is set to the On position.

  2. The indicator light will blink blue 3 times every few seconds when device enters pairing mode.
  3. Pair your device using the XFINITY Home TouchScreen.

Readying Your TouchScreen to Add a Lighting/Appliance Controller or Outlet Controller

  1. Go to the home screen on your TouchScreen by tapping Home, then tap Settings.
  2. Enter your master code.
  3. In the Categories section, select Home Devices.
  4. Select Lighting. Then select Add Lights.
    • Note: This procedure is the same for Lighting, Appliance and Outlet Controllers.

  5. After readying your desired Lighting/Appliance Controller or Outlet Controller, press the Next button to move to the pairing screen.
  6. Only one Lighting/Appliance Controller or Outlet Controller should be paired at this time. Delay other device types you wish to pair until Lighting/Appliance or Outlet setup is complete.

  7. Your selected Lighting/Appliance Controller or Outlet Controller will now be located. This may take up to several minutes. Upon locating the Controller, your TouchScreen will display the newly added device(s). To complete pairing, tap the Done button.
    • Note: If experiencing difficulty pairing the Controller – such as the LED not blinking – reset the device by holding down the small white button on the left side of the Controller while plugging it into the outlet.

  8. Press the Next button to move to the Configuration screen.

  9. At the Configuration screen, you will see a Light icon for each Controller now paired.
  10. Press the Light icon to configure each device. This is where you can assign a desired name to the Controller. Note: There is an additional option for Lighting Controllers only: you can set it to “Dimmable."

  11. Press the Return to Menu button to complete installation and configuration.
  12. Click the Home button on your TouchScreen to return to the home screen. There, you will see an icon displaying the new Lights app.

  13. You’re done! Your XFINITY Home Lighting/Appliance Controller or Outlet Controller is ready to use.

Troubleshooting the Lighting/Appliance Controller or Outlet Controller

How do I reset my Lighting/Appliance Controller or Outlet Controller?

  1. Ensure the device is unplugged from the outlet.
  2. Locate the manual override button on the front or side of the device.
  3. Keep the button depressed while inserting the device into an outlet.
  4. Hold the button down for about two seconds or until the green/blue LED light comes on.
  5. The Controller is now in “Pairing” mode.
My device is not in pairing mode directly out of the box.
If your device is not in pairing mode directly out of the box, please see the instructions for resetting the device above.

The appliance plugged into my Lighting/Appliance Controller or Outlet Controller does not turn on when using the TouchScreen or mobile devices.
  1. Make sure the appliance is plugged into the outlet on the bottom of the device and the appliance switch is set to On. The outlet on the front of the Controller is not compatible with the XFINITY Home system but will function as a traditional outlet.
  2. Please also check the bulb in your appliance.
When I plug in my Lighting/Appliance Controller or Outlet Controller to pair, the LED light does not illuminate.
Remove the Controller from the outlet and insert again while holding the on/off button on the left side until the LED light comes on.
