It's important to perform routine testing for your XFINITY Home sensors. This will assist in getting the best performance from your system.
Note: This information is for all XFINITY Home customers. However, if you live in the Houston, Texas, area and you purchased XFINITY Home prior to November 16, 2011, please see XFINITY Home for customers in the Houston, Texas, area installed before November 16, 2011.
To ensure your flood sensor is working properly, test weekly and whenever you suspect it doesn't go into an alarm.
You can test your flood sensor by placing the end of the sensor in a glass of water. Once the tip comes in contact with the water, the LED will flash red three times immediately. This will continue every 20-25 seconds as long as the flood sensor is in contact with water. Once the sensor is removed the flashing should discontinue. Once the test is completed the sensor should be dried thoroughly with a soft absorbent cloth.
Note: When performing the following test, ensure the alarm system is disarmed.
Test each door/window sensor once a week and whenever you suspect it doesn't go into an alarm to ensure it's working properly.
Simply open and close each door and window that has a sensor. If the sensor is set up with audible sound, you will hear it. If audible sound is turned off, you can view the activity on the TouchScreen by selecting the Security widget, then the History tab. The history will show you when the door was opened and closed.
