Support XFINITY Internet Configure Outlook 2007 for Comcast Email


To configure your Microsoft Outlook 2007 client to work with Comcast email or to reconfigure your Microsoft Outlook 2007 client to use port 587 instead of port 25, follow the steps below.

  1. Open Microsoft Outlook.
  2. Click the Tools menu, and select Account Settings.
    • To configure your Outlook 2007 client, go to step #3
    • To reconfigure your Outlook 2007 client:
      • Click on your email account, then click Change.

  3. On the Email tab, select New.
  4. On the Choose E-mail Service screen, select Microsoft Exchange, POP3, IMAP, or HTTP and click Next.
  5. Select the Manually configure server settings or additional server types checkbox and click Next.
  6. Choose Internet E-Mail and click Next.

  8. In the Account Type dropdown menu, select POP3. In the Incoming mail server field, enter and in the Outgoing mail server (SMTP) field, enter
  9. In the User Name field, type your username as seen on the left side of the @ symbol in your email address. For example, if your email address is, type in johndoe. In the Password field, enter your password. Check the Remember Password box if you don't want to enter your password every time you access your email.

  1. Click More Settings…, then select the Advanced tab.
  2. Incoming server (POP3) should be 995. Check the The server requires an encrypted connection (SSL) box.
  3. Outgoing server (SMTP) should be 587. Select encryption type SSL from dropdown menu.

  1. Click the Outgoing Server tab. Make sure that My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication is selected. Use same settings as my incoming mail server should also be selected.

  1. Click OK.
  2. Click Next.
  3. Click Finish.
  4. Click Close
As an additional step, third party email clients are often configured to delete messages from the server.  This will prevent additional devices from receiving your Comcast email.  To use your Comcast email account on multiple devices, you will need to ensure that email messages are not deleted.  To configure your Microsoft Outlook 2007 client to not delete messages from the server:
  1. Select Tools from the top menu, then Account Settings from the pull down list.
  2. Select your E-mail Account, and then click the Change button.
  3. Click the More Settings button located in the bottom right corner of the window.
  4. Click on the Advanced tab.
  5. Check the box next to Leave a copy of messages on server.
  6. Click OK.

  8. Click Next.
  9. Click Finish
