Introduction

We take our responsibility to combat spam seriously and we constantly work to reduce the amount of unwanted and malicious emails that make their way to our customers’ inboxes. We employ a number of technologies to reduce spam including:

Protecting Email

Reputation Services: Comcast uses various reputation services, including products from Spamhaus, Return Path and Cloudmark, to help determine when the source of email is likely to send spam.

These services include traditional blacklists, which evaluate key indicators using industry standard metrics to block senders from sending spam both into and out from the Comcast email domain.

Automated Spam Filtering: Comcast uses Cloudmark Authority to filter inbound and outbound email. Cloudmark Authority relies on a global network of reliable feedback and reputation data in order to filter spam, phishing emails and malware.

Automated Malware Filtering: Comcast uses TrendMicro’s VASPI for virus and malware filtering on all email. In addition, Comcast protects you by prohibiting the delivery of emails containing file attachments that are most often used to transmit viruses, including .vbs, .pif, .scr, .bat, .com, .cmd, .msi, and .reg.

NCMEC Filtering: Comcast employs a list of links of verified child exploitation materials prepared by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).

Any emails containing links to this illegal content are not transmitted through Comcast email for both inbound and outbound email.

Require Encrypted and Authenticated Ports to Send Email: Comcast requires all customers using email clients – like Outlook, Thunderbird or Apple Mail – to configure their software to use authentication and encrypted ports to send and receive email. This way, Comcast ensures that XFINITY Connect email users have a safe and secure experience.
