Support XFINITY Internet Remove the Proxy Setting in Your Browser

Introduction

Find everything you need to know about removing your proxy server setting.

Internet Explorer 7.0


Step 1:

Internet Explorer - Select Tools  

Click Tools in the top right corner of your browser.

Step 2:

Internet Explorer - In Tools drop down menu, select Internet Options  

In the Tools drop-down menu, select Internet Options.

Step 3:

Internet Explorer - In Internet Options window, select the Connections tab  

In the Internet Options window, select the Connections tab.

Step 4:

Internet Explorer - Click LAN settings  

Click the LAN Settings button.

Step 5:

Internet Explorer - LAN Settings - Click the Use a proxy server for your LAN box to uncheck then click OK  

In the Proxy server settings, uncheck the box that says Use a proxy server for your LAN, then click OK.

Firefox


Step 1:

Firefox - Click Tools then Click Options from the drop-down list  

From the top of your browser window, select Tools and select Options from the drop-down list.

Step 2:

Firefox Options Window - Click the Advanced Icon  

Click the Advanced icon.

Step 3:

Firefox Options Window - Network Tab - Click Settings  

On the Network tab, click the Settings button.

Step 4:

Firefox Connection Settings Window - Click the No Proxy option  

In the Connection Settings window, select the No proxy option.

Safari


Step 1:

Safari - Click Safari from the top menu and click Preferences in the drop down list  

Select Safari from the top menu and choose Preferences from the drop-down list.

Step 2:

Safari Preferences - Select the Advanced Icon and click Change Settings  

Select the Advanced icon from the top list and click the Change Settings button.

Step 3:

Safari Preferences - Click checkboxes next to Web Proxy or Secure Web Proxy to remove checks and click Apply Now  

This will open the Proxies section of the Network Preferences. If Web Proxy (HTTP) or Secure Web Proxy has a check in the box next to them, remove those checks and click Apply Now.

Step 4:

Close the Network Preferences window and return to Safari. You will no longer be using a web proxy.
