Support XFINITY Internet Detailed Setup Instructions for the Netgear WNR1000

Introduction

Are you ready to connect your devices like computers, laptops, and tablets to the Internet and each other without the hassle of wires? Once you have your wireless router, you’re all set to establish a wireless home network.

Steps for setting up individual routers can vary, but users with the Netgear WNR1000 router can find specific instructions below.

  1. Open your preferred browser and type the router IP address--either http://routerlogin.net,  http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.1.1--into the address bar and press the Enter key.

    • The Login prompt will ask for the router configuration user name and password.
    • The default user name is admin and the default password is password.

  2. Click Setup Wizard in the top left corner and select Yes, then click Next.
    Clicking Setup Wizard takes you to Setup Wizard Window, which asks to detect the Internet Connection type. Select Yes in the checkbox and click next. 
     
  3. The Setup Wizard will detect the type of Internet connection. For cable Internet connections, Setup Wizard will detect Dynamic IP. Click Next.

  4. You do not have to change your default settings.

  5. The router will now save these settings. When complete, you can verify whether you’re connected to the Internet from the Router Status > Maintenance menu.

  6. Make sure you have a valid IP address – not blank or 0.0.0.0 – on the Internet port assigned by your Internet Service Provider (ISP).
