Support XFINITY Voice Emergency Backup System

Introduction

A backup battery can be purchased to insert into your XFINITY Voice modem to provide additional hours of service during a power outage. (Backup batteries are not available for purchase from Comcast by Unlimited Select customers or Local Select customers.)

What Happens

In the event of an emergency, a backup battery can support your service for several hours so your phone and alarm system should remain fully operational for up to 8 hours. To purchase an XFINITY Voice backup battery, visit Purchase a Battery for Your XFINITY Voice Phone Modem. If you have a home security system, please contact your home security provider prior to your XFINITY Voice service installation so you can arrange a compatibility test.

Note: If you lose your power due to severe weather, Comcast cannot support priority consideration of "restoration of service" requests to service locations using in-home medical monitoring equipment such as oxygen or heart monitors.

XFINITY Voice Unlimited Select and Local Select (Virginia & West Virginia Only) Customers: Service (including 911 and emergency services) will not function during a power outage. A power outage will interrupt communication to and from non-voice communications equipment, including (but not limited to) alarm and security systems or devices, medical monitoring devices, personal emergency alert devices, home detection devices and fax machines connected to Unlimited Select or Local Select.
