Introduction
Once you set up the XFINITY™ TV app, you can use your mobile device just as you would a remote.
Set up the XFINITY TV app
- Downloaded the XFINITY TV app from the iTunes app store to your iPad, iPhone or iPod touch. For Android, download from the Android Market.
- Select the XFINITY TV app on your device.
- Apple devices

- Android smartphone

- Once logged in, you’ll be provided with your list of eligible cable boxes.
- Be sure that your cable box and TV are both turned on. When your eligible cable boxes are displayed on the app, a message will be sent to your cable box to match the name listed on the XFINITY TV app.
- Tap on each cable box to enter a name that you’ll be able to remember in the future for controlling your TVs.
- If you have more than one eligible cable box, go through the same process for each cable box in your home.
- After naming your cable boxes, click Continue.
- Next, you’ll be asked to select the Comcast recommended guide. This recommendation will attempt to find the closest guide to the version currently on your cable box. We recommend using this option to avoid missing channels or other lineup issues.

If you find that the guide does not match, you can change your channel lineup in Settings at any time.
- Select Finish. You’re now ready to use XFINITY TV app!
- If you have an eligible DVR on your account, DVR Manager will also be activated so that you can schedule recordings from your iPad, iPhone or iPod touch.
Troubleshooting common problems
- Make sure you have an active Internet connection.
- Make sure the cable box you are trying to tune is turned on and compatible with the XFINITY TV app for TV control.

Tuning your TV from the XFINITY TV app
There are several ways you can tune to a TV show using the XFINITY TV app:
- In TV Listings, tap Watch on TV to tune your TV to the selected program in TV Listings.
- In TV Listings, tap Watch Channel or the channel number/logo to tune directly to that channel.
- In TV Listings, tap Previous Channels in the upper right-hand side of the grid. This will show you the last few channels you visited from the XFINITY TV app, and you’ll see what's playing on that channel currently. Simply tap on the channel you’d like to watch now.
- In On Demand, select Watch ON to tune your TV to the On Demand program information screen.
Note: You will need your Comcast remote to complete the purchase/watch for play.
Your TV will tune just as if you selected the show from the TV Listings grid or XFINITY® On Demand menus using your Comcast® remote.
You can also control any eligible cable box in your home with the XFINITY TV app. To select a particular cable box connected to the TV you’re watching:
Apple devices:
- Select the cable box name in the upper right-hand corner of the app on your iPad or in setting for your iPhone/iPod touch.
- You'll see a drop down menu with all of the eligible cable boxes that can be used with the XFINITY TV app.
- Select the name of the cable box you want to control.
- You're ready to go!
Android smartphones:
- Select the cable box name from Settings.
- You'll see the cable box name you are currently controlling, and can tap to see a drop down menu with all of the eligible cable boxes that can be used with the XFINITY TV app.
- Select the name of the cable box you want to control.
- You're ready to go!
Note: The last cable box used will be saved for your next session.
